INTRODUCING THE NEW ERICSON 28By Bruce King To some, tradition means keeping the status quo. But to Ericson, tradition is continuing the process of refining and improving the boat builders art. The Ericson 28, designed by Bruce King, is the perfect blending of advanced design with high-tech construction methods to create a beautifully styled yet absolutely efficient performance cruiser. For example, a harmony of design is achieved by fibbing the Ericson 28 a low, sleek profile which in turn helps create a low center of gravity for improved performance. Still, interior headroom at 6’1” shows no sign of compromise. And speaking of the interior, the Ericson 28 boasts abundant storage, accommodations for five and lavish teak joiner work crafted to exacting tolerances. compromise hull strength for speed, or vice versa, Ericson has developed a
completely unique solution, the Tri-axial Force Grid. The TAFG is a network of
hollow fiberglass floor beams that are bonded to the hull during lay-up. The
result is a light, yet massively rigid unit that strengthens the hull for
added safety while evenly distributing structural loads from the engine, mast,
shrouds, backstay and forestay.
The TAFG works so well that Ericson includes a full 10-year limited hull warranty even if you put your Ericson 28 into charter service. All this adds up to another Ericson tradition. Value.
