NEW ERICSON 28 STANDARD EQUIPMENT

HULL

Hand laminated, one piece monocoque fiber-glass hull structure of matte, cloth and roving, with extra laminate at high stress areas. Triaxial Force Grid reinforced. Fiberglass bonding of wood bulkheads, liner and gussets for additional support of the hull-skin. Molded in boot and sheer stripe of contrasting gel coat color. Bottom paint: sanded, etched, primed and first coat (blue, black or red).

There is a ten year hull warranty on every Ericson yacht.

TRIAXIAL FORCE GRID

A one piece, laminated system of fiberglass transverse and longitudinal “hat section” beams fiber glassed inside the hull to support mast, shroud, keel, and engine loads. Constructed of special uni-directional roving, matte and woven roving. Cosmetic extension of TAFG finishes lockers cleanly in gel coat. Limberholes for drainage to bilge.

DECK

Hand-laminated fiberglass deck, Divinycell form-cored sandwich construction with extra laminate at high stress areas. High density foam sandwich construction in lieu of standard core at all high stress areas: stanchion bases, traveler, and genoa T-track locations. Marine plywood sandwich construction under the cockpit sole and primary winch locations. Molded in non-skid pattern of contrasting gel coat color. Hull to deck joint, fiber glassed with four layers of 3 oz. matte and 7 ½ oz. woven roving with twin applications of uni-directional roving in high vertical stress areas. Comfortable “T” shaped  cockpit: cambered coaming backrests; beveled seat edges; optimum width seats; bridge deck; combined lazarette seat.

BALLAST

3200 lbs. cast lead mounted externally by 5 stainless steel bolts through the Triaxial Force Grid. Choice of keel: standard draft (4’0”) or competition (5’6”).

MAST

Deck stepped mast with solid teak mast compression post to transmit loads to the TAFG. Fractional rig (aluminum mast) with in-line uppers and aft lowers. Boom vang attachment. Polyurethane painted (black or white). Internal main and jib halyards. Internal sail track for luff slugs.

BOOM

Aluminum boom section with: internal main-sheet and vang bales; internal sheaves to accept two sets of internal slab reefing, internal outhaul, 4 to 1 purchase; internal end boom topping lift control; polyurethane painted (black or white); sail slide track. Internal sail track for slugs or bolt rope.

STANDARD RIGGING

1x19” stainless steel shrouds and stays with swaged terminals: upper shrouds, Ό”; backstay, Ό” split to two part 3/16” (1x19) bridal; head stay Ό”; lower shrouds (2) Ό”. Navtec s tainless steel chain plates and tie rods, inboard mounted for close-winded sheeting angle.

RUNNING RIGGING

Wire 3/16” (S.S.) jib halyard spliced to 3/8” Dacron tail (internal). Dacron braid 3/8” main halyard (internal). Dacron braid 3/8” mainsheet led to winch and 3/8” jib sheets. Coated wire masthead/boom topping lift, adjustable.

WINCHES

Two Barient 21A, two speed, aluminum genoa sheet winches. Barient 10A, single speed aluminum jib halyard winch. Barient 8P mainsheet winch aft on cabin top. Barient 10" aluminum winch handle.

DECK HARDWARE

1" x 1/8" aluminum genoa T-tracks, inboard and outboard. Ball bearing, companionway mounted mainsheet traveler with 2 to 1 controls. Two genoa cars. Four 8" mooring cleats through-bolted with backing plates. Double-rail bow pulpit with backing plates. Single-rail stern pulpit with backing plates. Double life lines. Port and starboard boarding gates in lifelines with forward braced stanchions and backing plates. Stainless steel head stay chain plate and stainless steel tack plate. Anchor locker on foredeck, recessed with overboard drain. Stainless steel mast step with "wings" for hardware attachment. Teak cabin top handrails. Three cockpit seat lockers: one for optional propane stove fuel storage or day sailing icebox, two for cockpit storage. Two self-bailing cockpit scuppers.

HATCHES, PORTLIGHTS, AND VENTILATION

Lewmar "Superhatch" deck hatches, forward and midship. Smoked acrylic, sliding main companionway hatch with solid teak interlocking crib boards. Sea hood for main companionway hatch. Six fixed safety glass port lights. Opening ports optional.

FUEL

15 gallon, custom, deck fill, baffled aluminum fuel tank, shut off valve, vent, fuel-level gauge and electrical ground to engine.

WATER

25 gallon capacity for fresh water located under the starboard settee berth, removable. Optional 18 gallon water tank under V-berth. Tanks vent at head sink to allow overflow when filling to spill into sink.

HOLDING

13 gallon capacity, high strength plastic holding tank and dockside discharge. Overboard discharge optional.

POWER

Diesel, Universal, two cylinder fresh water cooled inboard auxiliary with fuel filters, 12 volt, 55 amp alternator. Engine instrument panel in cockpit, containing ignition, oil pressure warning light, engine temperature warning light, ampmeter, engine compartment blower switch. Throttle and gear shift controls. 3/4" monel propeller shaft with bronze shaft strut and 2 blade RH sailor prop. Engine compartment ventilation system with exhaust blower fan (exceeds federal specs). Insulated engine compartment box. Removable panel at quarter berth for engine compartment access.

ELECTRICAL DC

One 12 volt 90 amp marine battery. Distributed above the quarter berth with circuit breakers, sealed four-way master safety switch. Eight 12 volt dome lights. International running lights, bow light mounted on pulpit in custom protective bracket for optimum visibility and safety. Mast mounted bow and foredeck light. Masthead light.

PLUMBING

Fresh water foot pump in galley. Fresh water hand pump in head. Optional hot and cold pressure water in galley, as well as shower and sink in the head. Whale gusher manual bilge pump, cockpit mounted. Thru-hull fittings with Zytel ball valves when below waterline. Double hose clamps on all hoses below waterline.

INTERIOR

6'1" headroom with leatherette headliner and deck access zippers. Interior overhead handrails. Companionway grab rails. Teak veneer bulkheads. Teak veneer cabin house trim. Teak hull (ceiling) planking. Satin varnished teak and holly sole with access ports. Oiled, hand rubbed teak finish.

GALLEY

L-shaped. Deep stainless steel sink with drain to thru-hull and a teak panel door below. 2 burner gimbaled alcohol stove with chopping block. Tilt up counter extension. Formica galley top. 5 cubic foot, insulated ice box with insulated top and lid. Large storage lockers with (2) teak panel doors. Tilt out utility compartment. Dish locker. Food locker extending the full length of the galley. Two drawers.

BERTHS (6)

6'7" wide double berth forward. 6'2" settee berth to port in main salon. 6'6" settee berth to starboard which slides out to make a double. 6'6" quarter berth.

HEAD

Large head compartment with curved top door and header. Formica covered bulkheads. 13 gallon holding tank with dockside discharge (overboard optional). Molded fiberglass sink. Cleaning gear and toiletries locker. Fresh water hand pump at sink. Optional hot and cold pressure water shower and sink. Opening port for ventilation. Ceramic head.

MAIN SALON

Twin settees for openness, socializing and function at sea. Hinged bulkhead mounted table with leaf that extends to opposite settee. Formica covered table with teak trim. Storage shelves behind seat back. Hanging locker with shelf above and boot locker. Liquor and storage rack on main bulkhead.

CUSHIONS

Designer fabric for cushion covers. 4" pillow style foam cushions with high, pillow style backrests in main salon. High density foam cushions in the forward and aft berths.

STORAGE

In addition to that mentioned in galley, head and main salon, there is storage under the port and starboard settee bunks, under the forward berth (2 compartments), under the sink in the head, hanging locker, and port cockpit lazarette, adjacent battery storage compartment and behind seat backs in main salon.
